National Monument

Whoever knows the city of Jakarta would also know the National Monument (Monas). If you have never been there, you might think that it’s hot and noisy, as it is located at the very center of the city surrounded by busy roads. Actually that’s not true at all. Not only situated within a huge square, the square itself is surrounded by tall mahogany trees. The surrounding trees keep the area away from road noises, making it a nice place to relax or read books. Plus you are also able to breath clean air and feel the breeze.

There is no entry fee to enter the park. But to enter the monument, various fees apply. Rp. 5,000 for entering the monument perimeter and museum area. Or pay Rp. 15,000 for a complete access up to the top. If your plan is just to relax, simply going around the park could be enough. And no entrance fee for that.

The place is accessible by public transportation. Although it is very close by Gambir train station, you could not stop at this station if you are taking KRL Commuter train. If you are on KRL Commuter train, stop at Sudirman station. Take the upstair exit, and walk to the right. You will reach Tosari ICBC Transjakarta bus shelter. From there you could take a bus to Monas.
